The State Fair has come and gone. One of the ways we in New Mexico mark the turning seasons. This summer and fall was a busy time preserving the harvest and I submitted more entries in the canning category than I did last year. Instead of prejudging items as not being worthy, I decided to let the judges do their job. The results were gratifying.
If you're interested, I entered 12 items and nine of them won ribbons. The Chow Chow won first place and a second in the Ball Fresh Preserving Awards.
Second Place
- Corn Relish
- Peach Chutney
- Fig Preserves
- Peach Preserves
Third Place
- Spiced Pickled peaches
- Pickled Beets
- Cherries in Wine
- Cherry Preserves
Here's the great thing about these ribbons--they make wonderful bookmarks.

Big Kudos, Anne!
